The very first Guernsey Health Show was held on Sunday 8th January 2017 at Les Beaucamps High School, Guernsey and saw more than 1,500 visitors throughout the day.
The event was brought together by a group of volunteers in 2016 keen to create a not-for-profit organisation after identifying a gap in the market for promoting health and wellbeing in the island.
There were over 60 exhibitors ranging from fitness instructors and nutrition experts to mental health charities and life coaches. The successful show offered visitors a chance to discover the wealth of choices available in Guernsey and provide local companies both large and small a platform to showcase their business.
A donation was made to the local charity ActionAid Support Group Guernsey as the health show’s chosen support charity for 2017.
The aims of the annual events are to:
- Promote the health, wellbeing and fitness opportunities available in Guernsey.
- Provide access to health, wellbeing and fitness education.
- Help people to embrace a positive approach to health, wellbeing and fitness.
- Encourage healthy habits and behaviours.
- Complement local initiatives and strategies that promote health, wellbeing and fitness.
- Support local businesses involved in the health, wellbeing and fitness industry.
